South superstar Mahesh Babu is left heartbroken as his mother Ghattamaneni Indira Devi has passed away. On Wednesday, she left for her heavenly abode at her home in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness. She was 70. Indira Devi had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city for the past few weeks. The sudden demise of Mahesh’s mother is the second big tragedy in the family after the death of the actor’s brother Ramesh Babu. Indira’s elder son Ramesh died earlier this year. 

Soon after the news of Indira Devi’s tragic death broke out, condolences and tributes started pouring in from Mahesh Babu’s industry friends and Tollywood celebrities. Mourning the sad demise, megastar Chiranjeevi took to his Twitter handle to offer his deepest condolences to the bereaved family. He tweeted, “Extremely sad to hear about the demise of Indira Devi garu. The funeral of Mahesh Babu’s mother will be held on Wednesday afternoon at Maha Prasthanam. As per family sources, her mortal remains will be kept at Padmalaya Studios for fans to pay their last respects. Indira Devi is survived by her husband, veteran Telugu yesteryear star Krishna, her son Mahesh Babu, and three daughters.

Mahesh Babu was very close to his mother and often used to express his undying love for him on social media via heartfelt posts.
